Marriage services

The masjid performs nikah ceremonies that are also legal marriages. Here is how to arrange yours.

Process

Steps 1 to 3 must be completed before the marriage contract signing.

  1. Schedule a premarital counseling session by emailing imam@icnbm.org. Premarital counseling helps the couple gain a deeper understanding of a harmonious marriage guided by Islamic teachings and principles. We pray that it prepares you both for the journey ahead.
  2. Obtain a marriage license from your county clerk. Because our marriage ceremonies are also legal marriages, a valid license is required. In Davidson County, licenses are issued by the County Clerk's Office at 700 2nd Avenue South, Suite 101, Nashville, TN 37210, which can be reached at (615) 862-6256.
  3. Register online and pay the administrative fee. Complete the Marriage Services Registration Form (opens the registration form on Jotform), then pay the fee: $100 for ICN members or $300 for non-members. You can pay by debit or credit card, PayPal, check (paper or electronic) made out to "ICNBM", or cash. Learn how to become a member.
  4. Attend the marriage aqd (contract) signing. Bring your county marriage license and the return envelope provided with it. The bride, groom, wali and two witnesses must all be present, each with valid government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license, passport or state ID. The Islamic Center does not provide witnesses.
